13.1 PlanAhead - "Import ISE Place & Route results" results in "Unexpected Error"

I created a new project to import my Place and Route results from the Project Navigator or from a command line run.
After selecting "Import ISE Place & Route results" a message stating "Importing placement results" is written to the console, but, after a few seconds, the PlanAhead GUI closes without warning. A stack trace of the process shows "An unexpected error has occurred (11)."
How can I work around the issue?

This issue has been reported for specific designs when using the 13.1 PlanAhead software to open the implemented design. To avoid the crash, users were able to first open the netlist design and then import the placement using File > Import Placement.
Fixes made in 13.2 PlanAhead software have resolved this issue (based on known causes from designs submitted to Xilinx Technical Support).
