Why do I see "blocky" results when decoding a non-compliant stream where the max_dec_frame_buffering is larger than the MaxDpbSize?

This is a known issue with the Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC - LogiCORE H.264/H.265 Video Codec Unit (VCU) where the following is true:

  • The older 2019-01-16 patch from (Xilinx Answer 71798) has been installed
  • You are trying to decode a non-compliant stream where the max_dec_frame_buffering is larger than the MaxDpbSize.

The below solutions resolve this issue.

  • 2018.2 - Users can download the latest PetaLinux Recipes and Patch files from (Xilinx Answer 71798) to work around this issue.
  • 2018.3 - Users can download the latest PetaLinux Recipes and Patch files from (Xilinx Answer 71798) to work around this issue.
  • 2019.1 - These patches will be included in the 2019.1 release and later versions.
